Wagers on French Roulette Wheels

Roulette offers players a chance to make wagers on individual numbers with a payoff of 35 to 1, and to split their wagers between any group of numbers a single chip can reach. These inside bets are designed with a payoff that produces a standard house edge of 5.26%. However, when the single-zero wheels are played, the house edge is considerably lower at just 2.70%.

Other wagers can be made at roulette, called outside bets. These bets include column and section wagers that cover 12 numbers and pay 2 to 1, and even-money wagers, or bets that pay 1 to 1. Even money wagers include odd/even (Pair/Impair), black/red (Rouge/Noir), and 1st 18, 2nd 18 (Manque/Passe). These also have a 2.70% house edge on single-zero wheels.

However, the French game offers a rule referred to as La Partage (the divide). With La Partage, a player who has a wager on an even-money bet that would typically be lost when zero (or double zero) is spun, receives a refund of half their wager. This is done automatically and reduces the house edge of even-money bets to 1.35 %.

Ah, France. I'm a pretty famous marsupial over there if I don't say so myself. Although they don't call me ‘the Wombat'. They call me ‘le Wombat'.

There's a lot I love about France.
The croissants, the pain au chocolat, the ladies, Paris and let's not forget French Roulette.

Now why would you play French Roulette over a European Roulette like Premier Roulette I hear you ask? Other than the fact that you can call out your bets in a ridiculously sexy accent? Would you rather someone said 'No More Bets please!' to you or 'Rien ne van plus'? I rest my case.

Also, the betting layout is slightly different which makes a nice change. All the same bets are there, they are just laid out slightly differently (and we mean slightly- we are talking more of a cosmetic change).

The major difference is in the Dozens bet which is off to the side of the numbers rather than directly underneath them. So the first dozen is called P12 (Premier 12), the middle is M12 (Midi 12) and the last is D12 (Dernier 12).

And then, many of the bets are in French, but it's very obvious which is which. They even give you an English translation underneath on this particular game, so you have Pair/Impair for Even/Odd and Manque/Passe for Hi/Lo numbers. The Red and Black bets are obvious too.
